@scott I do agree with you. It really does take time to learn about fitness and nutrition, and you stress a good point there. I never used to keep a food journal when I started a healthy lifestyle. I did it the other way around - I read everything on nutrition while trying to eat healthy, and you're right it would've been better if I would just write down what I ate.

Definitely true about learning nutrition. -- I don't know if you disagree or not, but to me the first step is to walk before you run.

Knowing the nutrients percentages is not as important as just logging your food.

The first thing financial planners suggest for those with money problems is to write down everything you spend. They don't tell you to learn the differences between stocks, bonds, options, shorts, derivatives, reits, etc...

That's the beauty of it. The first step is Just Keep a food Journal. Keep track of everything you eat. If you dont' know, make some guesstimates. Then, you can look at trends, and learn what to cut and learn about the nuances of nutrition and lifetime healthy eating afterward you build the habit first. One habit at a time.

What do you think?

I personally use Simple Weight to manage my food, exercise, and weight log. you might want to give it a try.
